Silverton, Colorado is a great little mountain town. Settled in 1908, its few streets are filled with old-timey buildings and homes, yet there’s plenty of restaurants and shops for both locals and tourists.
In case you ever go, here’s fair warning. The drive from Durango to Silverton is a nail-biter. But coming the other direction from Ouray apparently is terrifying. I mean, at least that’s the conclusion I came to after seeing, “I survived the drive from Ouray” t-shirts in the local shops. I guess there’s a reason the Million Dollar Highway / San Juan Skyway is also dubbed the Highway to Hell.
But…I survived, so here are a few shots I took on my quick afternoon jaunt to Silverton.
