About Photography Fifty
Hey there! I’m so glad you stumbled across my little piece of the Internet, Photography Fifty. Since you’re here, you may be wondering what this site is all about and maybe a little about me.
I suppose this is the spot where I’m supposed to insert a picture of myself, but that will just have to wait. Like a lot of photographers, I prefer to be behind the lens.
Anyway, I’m Kristin and welcome to my photography journal.
Several years ago I fell in love with so many aspects of photography. Now, I find myself noticing the details in our world and craving mini escapes into nature-just me and my camera. I’ve always had a creative side, and now express it through my lens.
Often, I take groups of pictures that tell a story as a whole. In order to display them together, along with my thoughts, I made Photography Fifty.
You can also find me over on Instagram where I post regularly and am inspired by the great work of other photographers.
Behind the name.
To understand the name, Photography Fifty, means understanding a little about me. So I’ll give you the quick version.
At age fifty I picked up my first DSLR and with it my love of photography. Photography was finally the thing that married the two sides of my brain that often felt in competition: the fifty percent of me with a bent towards creativity and the other half that is more analytical. I discovered that, for me, photography is the perfect union of technical and artistic; measured skill and being free; rules and rules you can break.
So while on the surface Photography Fifty represents discovering a passion for creating photos at age fifty, it also represents how photography brings together what’s always felt like equal but separate, competing interests.
